Amanda + Patrick

We loved spending the day with Amanda & Patrick in Inverness, MS! The letters they read during their first look were completely priceless. Such a beautiful wedding. We have noticed a trend with the brides who book us - most are nurses and veterinarians! We think that is so awesome. All of our couples have big hearts, and we’re very thankful to work with such sweet people. This is not the last video you’ll see from the Mississippi Delta- stay tuned for more coming soon!

Ali + Jacob // Bastrop, LA Wedding

On this rainy Fall weekend, we traveled to Bastrop, Louisiana (near Monroe) to film the rehearsal dinner and wedding day of Ali and Jacob! The entire event was held at a historic home called Park Manor, built in 1860. It has been recently updated to include a bridal cottage and reception pavilion on the property — which was perfect for this rainy wedding day! The bride and bridesmaids utilized the cute cottage for hair and makeup, while the groom and groomsmen prepped inside the mansion. Ali was assisted into her dress by her older sister and shared a priceless First Look with her dad before the ceremony. There were special flowers placed in an empty seat in memory of Ali’s mother. During much of the video, you can hear the bride’s sister describe how the loss of their mother has impacted their relationship. We could see how important their families were to the bride and groom, so we tried to center their film on that love they share.

The ceremony was held in the brand new pavilion- it was the first wedding to ever use this building on the property. The bridal party entered under a beautiful floral arch down the aisle to an open space with antique windows looking out to a pasture. Jacob escorted his mother, and Ali was escorted down the aisle by her father. The ceremony was officiated by a family member and was a very sweet moment as they stood holding hands in front of their loved ones. This was the second wedding we used our new Ronin stabilizer - it really makes you feel like you are standing right there with them.

After the ceremony, the rain had stopped and the bridal party was able to take some beautiful photos outside in front of the house. Back at the reception, there was no shortage of fun for the couple and their guests! They had a very interactive DJ who facilitated the shoe game, the flower toss, garter toss, dancing, and a photo booth. The couple also had a fog machine for their first dance. Ali shared a dance with her father, followed by an emotional dance between Jacob and his mother. But the part of the reception that grabbed at our heart strings the most definitely the speeches. Jacob’s best friend, Patrick, shared many stories of growing up playing football together and how their friendship has stayed strong all these years. Riley, Ali’s sister, shared how their opposite personalities once clashed but now have evolved to complement one another. It was a blessing to hear their stories and a perfect way to end their wedding film. Thank you to Park Manor for hosting this beautiful celebration for these two sweet families!

Ashley + Matthew // Starkville, MS Wedding

If you are a Mississippi State University fan, you have to see this wedding film!! Ashley and Matthew are both graduates of MSU and were married on campus at the Chapel of Memories. We started our day filming the bridal party getting ready alongside Ashley's cute dogs and chickens! The father/ daughter first look was priceless, and we loved how sweet Ashley's mom was with helping with her dress. Their house was filled with MSU memorabilia that helped display their love for all things State! The Chapel of Memories was a beautiful venue featuring large stained glass windows and elegant fountains. There was space open on both sides of the pews which made it perfect for getting any angle we needed during the ceremony. We really loved how Ashley and Matthew had written their own vows to exchange and took communion at the end! After taking pictures around campus with the happy couple, we all headed to the reception at The Mill. They had wonderful food available, including prime rib! It was a fun night of filming cake cutting, corn hole games, and dancing in Starkville!

Lindy + Jared // Biloxi, MS Wedding

In April we traveled to Biloxi, MS for the beautiful wedding of Lindy and Jared! The groom and groomsmen prepped for the day at the new Margaritaville Resort while the bride and bridesmaids got ready at the venue, upstairs at the Slavonian Lodge. Lindy was assisted with her dress by her mom, and she also had a really sweet First Look with her dad! It was perfect weather the entire day, which helped set the scene for the bride and groom's special First Look under the beautiful oak trees. The way Jared looked at Lindy as he saw her in the wedding dress for the first time was priceless!

The ceremony was held in the large ballroom at the lodge. The bride and groom's families were seated in front of the stage. Other guests were seated at beautifully decorated tables detailed with fresh flowers already set for the reception. Lindy was escorted into the ballroom by her father up the aisle and by her groom up the stairs to the stage. The couple exchanged vows and rings underneath a gorgeous arch of flowers. We also thought it was cute when the ring bearer pulled a little Rubix cube out of his pocket to play with while on stage! After their vows were sealed with a kiss, the chairs where the family had been seated were moved aside to make room for the dance floor while the bridal party took pictures outside.

We loved how many flowers were around the room and their cool globe used as a guest sign-in! Everything was decorated in a really sophisticated grand style; from one of the largest cakes we've seen to the amazing ice sculpture, it was really something to see! After finishing up some pictures for the photographers and drone shots for us, the couple was announced as they re-entered the reception. Jared shared a sweet dance with his bride Lindy, as well as his mother. Then Lindy and her father started to what at first seemed like a "normal" father/ daughter dance. In the middle of the song, the music started to skip as if something had gone wrong with the DJ's equipment. Everyone was looking around trying to figure it out when all of the sudden a new song came on while Lindy and her father started dancing in sync! They had rehearsed this dance all along that featured a medley of hip-hop, disco, country line dancing, and the twist- such a special memory with her dad! They ended the dance by pulling in other family and bridal party members to join them on the dance floor. Everyone was having so much fun, and we loved how full their dance floor stayed almost the entire evening! One of our favorite shots is of Lindy's grandparents dancing together, and you can see Lindy and Jared to the left of them dancing together as well. We ended our time at the reception by grabbing a few shots of the couple's traditional money dance with their guests, the awesome vintage car they rented, and of course a beautiful sparkler exit at the front of the lodge.

We are very grateful for both families, the wedding party, and the awesome team of vendors for helping to make this wedding day go so smoothly and beautifully! We really enjoyed working alongside the talented photographers, Mark and Jeff!

We had a lot of fun shooting and editing this wedding video! RD captured some breathtaking drone shots of the beach as well as the venue that are featured all throughout the film. But we also had a "blooper" (aka crash!) that we have shared below for a good laugh! (The drone was not damaged thankfully)

Happy Mother's Day!

This is dedicated to all the moms who planned every detail, cried happy tears, buttoned-up dresses, adjusted ties, and danced the night away. You are so appreciated, and your love doesn't go unnoticed on your son or daughter's wedding day.

Often times for weddings, the mother of either the bride or groom is the first person we meet. They are the unseen heroes of the wedding day- making sure every detail is just right and taking care of everyone around them.

We’ve put together some of our favorite “momma moments” to celebrate this special week. We feel so privileged to document such an important day for these families. From giving a heartwarming speech to holding an umbrella over the bride and groom while they dance in the rain, these are truly priceless memories!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Marie + Andrew {Wedding} - Decatur, MS

It's not every day you get to film a wedding at a castle! Our latest wedding highlight video was filmed in Decatur, MS at Pierce Castle. One of our early wedding videos from 2016 was also filmed here.

Andrew and Marie were married just before Christmas so everything was decorated for the holiday festivities! We enjoyed filming both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day. On Friday, we stayed overnight in Philadelphia, MS which is nearby. This venue is only a few hours away from our home, but we still love to travel- we have several destination weddings coming up this year!

There were many classic winter elements that gave the castle such a special touch. Each guest received a personalized Christmas ornament! And it was nice to have hot chocolate on this chilly day (cold even for Mississippi!).

The ceremony was located on the front patio under string lights and was officiated by the bride's father and the groom's grandfather. Both families were so welcoming all throughout the weekend. It's always a pleasure to be the wedding videographers at Pierce Castle!

If you recognize the song, let us know in the comment section!

Emily + Blake {Wedding} - Natchez, MS

Happy Spring!

We are almost finished with our busy editing season and will soon move into wedding season again! Our latest wedding we are now able to share with you was set at a venue you may recognize from another film of ours - The Auburn Antebellum Home in Natchez, MS. It was such a pleasure to be part of Emily and Blake's wedding! The groom's reaction as his bride walked up the aisle was priceless. The weather and lighting was perfect during the late afternoon ceremony. The reception was held mainly in the back courtyard, beautifully decorated tables and lights strung across the entire area. Just as the couple was announced by the DJ and entered for their first dance, it started to rain. Ironically, their song was the Adele version of "To Make You Feel My Love" and these are the first lines:

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

They continued to dance in the rain until it picked up and started to really pour. Just when we thought they would have to come inside and finish after the rain passed, the mother of the bride and a bridesmaid came running to the couple's side with umbrellas in hand. They stood in the rain just to hold the umbrellas over the bride and groom so they could finish their first dance - we thought that was so sweet!

The rain eventually cleared out and all of the guests were able to enjoy the dance floor. The bride and bridesmaids also had been practicing all day for a surprise choreographed dance that they later performed at the reception! We are so glad to have been able to film another Natchez wedding!

Jordan + PJ {Wedding} - Hattiesburg, MS

Happy Thursday!

Back in late October, we had the pleasure of working with the Bakery Building in Hattiesburg, MS for two weekends in a row. Right across the street from the train station, it has become one of the most popular venues for weddings in the city, and understandably so! The vintage industrial character of this building is unmatched with its original hardwood floors, metal beams on the ceiling, and exposed brick walls. According to their website: "Originally built in 1927, The Bakery Building served as a full-scale bakery for many years. Over time and through changes in ownership (and several hurricanes), the building fell into disrepair. In 2003 an ambitious project began to restore the building, expose the inherent beauty and character of the space, and repurpose it for life today."

Jordan & PJ discovered our work just one month before their wedding day and decided they had to book us! We are so excited that they did- their wedding video is such a sweet one. The letters they read to one another during their First Look were so heartfelt and authentic. Probably the most emotional part of the day was the Father-Daughter First Look. The reaction of Jordan's dad seeing her as a bride for the first time was absolutely priceless. We also loved how fun their Father/ Daughter and Mother/Son dances were at the reception. Jordan and her dad danced to "You've Got a Friend in Me" from the Disney movie, Toy Story (you can see in the video that before the dance, her dad is wearing a Woody cowboy hat.) We loved working with their families and team of vendors on this beautiful wedding day in Hattiesburg!

Hey there!

This week we are featuring one of our latest engagement sessions - perfect timing for Valentine's Day! Just as the weather was turning cooler here in Mississippi, we finally found a couple who wanted to brave a portrait session with us in a ghost town called Rodney. We've been out there exploring before but had never done any couples' portraits until now! Sydney and Steven were the perfect clients to go on this fun adventure with. They are such a sweet couple and loved seeing all of these historic buildings with us.

Rodney sits just northeast of Natchez, MS so it's pretty close to the Mississippi River. There's a few different structures and cemeteries still standing in this little ghost town, but we just stayed around three structures while we were shooting: Old Rodney Presbyterian Church, Rodney Baptist Church, and Rodney Masonic Lodge. The town is not completely deserted; there are a handful of people who still live in the area, but all of the original structures have been abandoned for a long time.

Since the last time we came to Rodney (photo at the bottom of this post), the Masonic Lodge doors have been closed off  - it was in the worst shape out of the three. The Baptist church (circa 1850) is a beautiful white building trimmed with green shutters. Both inside and out, it has so much architectural charm that we love. The Presbyterian church (circa 1829) sits just across the way and is in much better shape. As a tall brick building right off the dirt road, it's hard to miss. It's famous for receiving the brunt of a squabble during the Civil War. According to stories we've read, the pastor at that time invited Union crew members from the USS Rattler gunboat to attend his service. However, Confederates heard about this and burst into the church to arrest them, violating their Sunday truce. When fellow Union crew members found out about the Confederates breaking the truce, they retaliated by firing a cannonball at the church. The damage is still visible on the front exterior. (In the photo below, you can see it in the brick, above the green shutters on the right.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Until next time,

RD & Ashley

Bethanie + Jairus {Wedding} - Fort Ashby, WV

In the middle of October, we had the privilege of filming for our Maryland side of the family! We traveled to Fort Ashby, WV for the beautiful wedding of our cousin Jairus, and his bride Bethanie. The elegant ceremony and fun-filled reception were both held at Brookdale Farms. We loved getting to capture all of these priceless moments for our family, and in the future, we are planning to edit a 'blooper' film together for them! On Christmas day while visiting everyone in Maryland, we were able to show this film on the big screen so nearly all of our family could watch it for the first time together. Everything about this wedding was beautiful - we really love to travel, and we hope to have more weddings up this way in 2018!

Logan + Ethan {Wedding} - Vicksburg, MS

One of our favorite wedding films was from October in Vicksburg, MS. Vicksburg is a quaint town with the mighty Mississippi flowing near by, and the Yazoo river feeding its strength. The wedding venue was in the historic downtown district at the BB Club. The wedding party rode in a tram car for photos up and down the steep streets near the river. The ceremony was held in a grand ballroom - it was the perfect place to say "I do" for Logan and Ethan. Their reception included a fun live band that even sang Happy Birthday to the bride's brother! One of the reasons why we love this film so much is because of the way Logan and Ethan's loved ones shared their story. Coming from their perspective, the story unfolds in such an authentic and touching way. All of the speeches were captured from their rehearsal dinner that we filmed the evening before the wedding - we hope to have more speeches that we are able to incorporate into our wedding films in the future!

We're back!

It's been a busy few months! We've had so many weddings consecutively, and can't wait to share all of our new films and photos! It's been a great time, but we are glad to have a break soon.

One of our favorite weddings was Nadia and Ismael's. This was our first wedding to be a part of that was completely Spanish-speaking, as well as our first Catholic mass ceremony. We loved getting to know their family and all of their awesome cultural traditions! One of these traditions at the reception involved the couple standing on chairs, while their friends and family held them up. Her veil was held between them both, as other wedding guests tried to knock them over. We won't give away the rest, but watch their film for the full story! With all the excitement, their wedding day flew by. It was a truly original day, and we enjoyed being a part of it. We were not able to fit in their engagement session before their wedding day, so we ended up doing their session about a week after the wedding. It turned out better than we could have planned that way because we were able to get some amazing shots of Ismael and Nadia in their wedding attire as well! For any engaged couples who don't want a 'First Look' on your wedding day, this is a great alternative so you can have a full portrait session completely unrushed by all of the wedding day festivities.

More to come soon!

Rebecca + Adam {Wedding} - Natchez, MS

One of our last summer weddings was held in the historic city of Natchez, MS, which sits just east of the Mississippi River. We were able to get some beautiful drone shots in just before the rain came, and the sun made its way back out just in time for the ceremony! The bride and groom requested that their vows not be included in their highlight video, so we knew we had to pick the perfect song to go along with this story; It's now one of our favorites! Auburn, the name of the home/museum built in 1812, featured a beautiful spiral staircase that is original to the house.

The outdoor ceremony, situated in the front yard of Auburn, began right at sunset which made for wonderful lighting. The bride, along with the flower girl and ring bearer, arrived by horse and carriage. The groom was turned around, facing away from the driveway, and anxiously waited for his bride. She was escorted up the aisle by her father, who is a local pastor and served as the officiant of the wedding. The couple exchanged vows, tied a unity knot, and exited on the carraige. The reception included great food and a fun "magic mirror" photo booth inside, as well as a dance floor outside. It was a beautiful day!

Home, where your family (and dogs) welcome you with open arms (paws), and your Gram is waiting with a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies. It's always great to go home, especially when your dear friends get married! We had a wonderful time filming and photographing Katie and Seth's wedding in Cumberland, Maryland (my hometown)! The wedding day felt like a family reunion, with familiar and friendly faces all around. Of course, some great friends were there as well! The Allegany Museum was a beautiful venue for a sunny July day. There wasn't a shortage of creative energy, as the historic Western Maryland scenic railroad train station was just across the street, and the grand Appalachian mountains rose up from the terrain. Katie & Seth's wedding video was particularly unique, with original music written by the groom, making for a compelling soundtrack. We filmed them singing the duet in a staircase at the museum. The first drone shot in the film was originally shot during the couples engagement session, at Swallow Falls State Park.

We're looking forward to visiting Maryland again soon, to film another wedding! The colorful October foliage is something Mississippi usually doesn't reveal until late November, and just for a brief time. Shortly after, in November, we'll be back up for Thanksgiving, and for two photography sessions! It's been a blast coming to Maryland more often, and expanding our business as well!

P.S. Sorry we missed a week we've been busy!

Hope + Colton {Wedding} - Hattiesburg, MS

On the last Saturday in June, we traveled south for Hope and Colton's wedding! The ceremony and reception were both held at Destiny Church in Hattiesburg, MS. It seemed like the entire building was filled with beautiful, personal decorations and details that really helped us tell the story of this sweet couple. From the touching photos of loved ones whom had passed away attached to the bride's bouquet, to the impressive SR-71 Titanium- a rare artifact from the Cold War- at the groom's table, everything was so unique and personal to the bride and groom. They also shared heartfelt letters to one another following the ceremony. Hearing the bride's account of how they fell in love at a hospital where they both work was priceless! Hope also gave us a big compliment about our work that we really appreciated. After finding us online and watching a few of our videos, she told Colton she wanted to go ahead and book us. Since we were the only videographers they had looked into so far, he suggested searching for a few more just to have more options to choose from. But Hope said she already knew she wanted us to film their wedding! She said she loved how we accentuate all of the special touches that make a wedding personal. We really enjoyed filming this special wedding, and we will be back to film and photograph another Hattiesburg wedding in October!

Taylor + Chance {Wedding} - Brookhaven, MS

We were so excited to be the videographers for Taylor and Chance's big day! The preparations, first look, and ceremony were held at Johnson Grove Church of Christ in the Brookhaven, MS / Bogue Chitto, MS area. Our drone captured stunning aerial shots of the country church. Taylor & Chance had an emotional first look in the sanctuary, and then posed for their sweet portraits by their photographer Kelly Nevels. If you haven't heard of a 'first look,' this is a special time set aside for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time in their wedding attire before the ceremony. This allows more time for intimate shots of the couple for the photographer and videographer. Another benefit that some couples like about this option is that they are able to go straight from the ceremony to the reception and spend more time with their guests since all of the family portraits and formal photos are finished ahead of time. We really enjoy shooting traditional reveals as well, but first looks are definitely worth considering if you are planning a wedding!

By 5 p.m., every pew was filled. The bridal party made their way down from the balcony to line up and walk up the aisle. Taylor was escorted by her father to the front of the sanctuary where her groom was anxiously waiting. After their vows were sealed with a kiss, everyone joined the happy couple in Wesson, MS for the reception at the Old Wesson School, and a fun night of eating and dancing!

Kelcey + Austin {Wedding} - Grenada, MS

We had a great time filming and photographing this special wedding in Grenada, Mississippi! The day started off with a cloudless drive up from Jackson, with striking blue skies. As we arrived in downtown Grenada, we encountered a stately brick building marked "First & Green," the wedding venue. The day went smoothly, and Kelsey and Austin were a wonderful couple to work with.  Despite a bout of rain before the ceremony, the excitement continued to grow! The bride and groom wrote compelling letters to one another, which they read for us for the highlight film. After the ceremony was over, everyone put on their dancing shoes and enjoyed live music by Style the Band. It was a great time! Shortly thereafter, the rain clouds parted and gave way for the couple to make their departure under a beautiful sunset with a dark orange tint. We hope to be back to Grenada one day soon!
