Dogwood Venue Hattiesburg MS Wedding Video (Mackenzie + David)

Wedding Highlight Film {Dogwood Venue | Sumrall, MS}

WEDDING STORY: Filmed at the beautiful Dogwood Venue in Sumrall, MS/ Hattiesburg, MS, this wedding video was such a joy to work on! The bride, Mackenzie, is my (Ashley) little cousin, and we were so excited her family asked us to film this precious day. Their original wedding date had to be moved a little later due to COVID, but everything turned out just perfect. Mackenzie had special first looks with her dad, brother, bridesmaids, & then with David, her groom. We loved all the sweet little moments we were able to capture for them for their wedding video! The ceremony was in a beautiful outdoor area that sloped down to a pond with a fountain and trees as the backdrop, almost forming a natural amphitheater. Mackenzie was escorted down the aisle by her father, who also officiated the wedding. David’s father welcomed everyone with an introduction to the wedding ceremony and opening prayer as well. We typically don’t post full ceremonies on our blog, but I’m going to post theirs below because it was such an uplifting time of worship! (And you will get to hear the full version of Mackenzie’s dad’s heartfelt sermon/stories). The couple also shared a private time of exchanging vows they had written themselves. The ceremony was followed by a reception inside the Dogwood Venue, complete with a custom coffee bar provided by one of their favorite coffee shops. This was the first time (of hopefully many!) filming a wedding video in Sumrall MS, and we were so thankful to be the wedding videographers for this sweet couple and their beautiful day.

VIDEOGRAPHY INSPIRATION: When we were editing this video, RD said he drew inspiration from the quote credited to Picasso who said something along the lines of “you have to know the rules in order to break them.” Using a mix of cinematic, documentary, and home-video editing styles, you’ll see more artistic liberties than usual with the tidbits of audio left in, intentional hand-held camera shakes, non-linear placement of footage, and including even more of the ‘real’ moments we love to capture.
